Hot Springs

Las aguas termales son aquellas que emanan a la superficie terrestre con una temperatura al menos 4ºC más alta que la temperatura media anual de la localización donde se encuentran, pues han sido calentadas por formaciones geológicas subterráneas que se encuentran a mayor temperatura que la ambiental. Durante los siglos XVI, XVII, XVIII, ya se usaban algunas aguas termales en Venezuela para fines medicinales, especialmente para las afecciones de la piel. Alejandro de Humboldt es quien publica los estudios pioneros sobre las Aguas Termales en Venezuela (estados Carabobo y Sucre); posteriormente lo hacen Agustín Codazzi, Manuel Vicente Diaz, Adolfo Ernst, Herman Karsten, Vicente Marcano, W. Sievers, O. Aristides Rojas, Francisco de Paula Alamo. Venezuela tiene un enorme potencial para estudios de geotermia en la búsqueda de energía renovable limpia, así como para el desarrollo de centros turísticos y medicinales

Hot Springs or thermal waters are those that emanate to the earth's surface with a temperature at least 4ºC higher than the average annual temperature of the location where they are located, since they have been heated by underground geological formations that are at a higher temperature than the ambient temperature. During the 16th, 17th, and 18th centuries, some hot springs in Venezuela were already used for medicinal purposes, especially for skin conditions. Alejandro de Humboldt is the one who publishes the pioneering studies on Hot Springs in Venezuela (Carabobo and Sucre states). Years later, Agustín Codazzi, Manuel Vicente Diaz, Adolfo Ernst, Herman Karsten, Vicente Marcano, W. Sievers, O. Aristides Rojas and Francisco de Paula Alamo present studies related to the location of hot springs in Venezuela. Venezuela has enormous potential for geothermal studies in the search for clean renewable energy, as well as for the development of tourist and medical centers.
